Texas Reads One Book

Updated: Sep 12, 2018

Texas Reads One Book is back! Gunter Elementary students will be participating in the Texas Reads One Book program, one of the many reading programs through Read to Them. Read to Them is a non-profit organization promoting family literacy. Their mission is to create a culture of literacy in every home.

This year's book is The Mouse and the Motorcycle by Beverly Cleary.

Ralph is not like the other mice at the Mountain View Inn. He is always looking for adventure. So when a young guest named Keith arrives with a shiny miniature motorcycle, it's Ralph's lucky day. Right away, Ralph knowth that the motorcycle is special - made to be ridden by an adventurous mouse. And onc ea mouse can ride a motorcycle...almost anything can happen!

I loved this book a kid and am so excited that my kids get to experience the same joy I did as they read about Ralph and his high speed adventures on the shiny red motorcycle. Follow our discussion of the book on Facebook and Twitter as read with Gunter Elementary students and the entire state of Texas.
